Incorporated in 1951 by a group of concerned citizens, the Foundation has dedicated its efforts to those who face challenges in their lives.
In 1958, lifelong Burlington citizen Edward B. Gnahn left his estate in trust for the Special Needs Foundation, enabling assistance for future generations.
To provide direct service to children and adults with disabilities and chronic health conditions.

To offer assistance to improve the health, welfare, rehabilitation, employment, education, recreation, and daily activities for children and adults with disabilities in Des Moines County, Iowa.

All of our programs, including medical equipment and supplies, are for Des Moines County residents. Our equipment and supplies are available for loan, free of charge.

Yes we do! We take donations in the form of supplies or equipment, and monetary donations. Your contributions are tax deductible.
